Dicle Resisting from Hevsel to Gezi
Youths in Diyarbakir have started a one-week sit-in to draw attention to the cutting down of trees in the eight thousand years old Hevsel Gardens despite all the obstacles by police forces.“Dicle resisting from Hevsel to Gezi” is the slogan of the youths.
Hevsel Gardens, which covers an area of 700 hectares, has been Diyarbakir's nutritional source since the city was established thousands of years ago. Located on the banks of the Tigris River, it is situated on fertile soil that is rich of alluvium and still provides the vegetable and fruit needs of Diyarbakir.
